Jaw pain can come from several sources, but these two are some of the most common reasons for jaw pain. 

• Abscessed teeth occur when the pulp in the tooth becomes infected, leading to pus buildup (an abscess) under a tooth. A tooth abscess can result from plaque accumulation around teeth, untreated cavities, an injury, or even heart problems that affect blood flow to the teeth.
• Swollen gums could be a sign of gum disease. Sometimes there is also pus draining from the gums.

Toothaches can result from many complications, including cavities, gingivitis (gum disease), or food stuck between the teeth. 

If you are experiencing a toothache, it is important to determine why. We may be able to help you over the phone, but oftentimes you will need to schedule an appointment so we can determine the cause of the toothache.

If you have a chipped, cracked, or broken tooth, please schedule a visit with us right away for evaluation. Dr. Brenner will determine if your tooth is salvageable and what treatment is recommended. We will schedule you as soon as we can. All patients will receive the same treatment regardless of dental coverage.

If the nerve of your tooth is damaged due to the injury, it may be necessary to remove it to avoid future dental issues that can affect chewing and biting abilities.

Damaged dental work can also lead to discomfort. If your temporary crown or filling has come out, is loose, or damaged then please contact us right away.

You should also contact us immediately if your dentures or other dental appliances are damaged or broken.
